The Erring Sisters

I have started a cosplay page together with my sister, Bettcanard

Cosplay, crafting and costumes has been our shared passion since we were kids and we thought it was about time we joined forces. We will work together to produce books, tutorials and commissions within SFX makeup, costuming, prop etc. To start it of we are planning to make our first collaboration costume, where Elisabeth will make casting of the armor parts and Christina will sew the rest. In addition we also have team cosplay plans in the making, stay tuned.

We have both been working with cosplay as a hobby since 2011, but really want to take it to the next level. - Elisabeth is currently studying SFX Makeup (Mask and Hair design) at Westerdals in Oslo focusing on makeup appliances, molding and casting. - Christina has a master in industrial design and works a lot with prop making in a workshop in Oslo (Bitraf) and gaining new skills within sewing. She has also published a book about cosplay for beginners. Follow us on social media to get a glimpse of our work in progress projects and everyday adventures.

Happy Easter 2018 - Overwatch themed Easter Eggs

It is time for the Easter Eggs again and this year the theme I'm going for is Overwatch. And I'm going to make three egg designs: Overwatch logo, the onion plushy and Symmetra's turret.

And as always I start off with a plain cheap egg, and my only "rule" is that I still can be able to open it (and fill it with candy) after the transformation.

The OW logo
Ok, this was pretty basic. Foam details glued onto the the egg. Then added paint and some dry brushing.

Symmetra Turret
A little more advanced. I cut out a hole in the middle and added an indent with worbla with a "visor" made from transparent worbla. Feet are also made from worbla. Then a little paint and some airbrush.

The onion plushy - Pachimari
Details are only 2 mm foam cut outs and some paint ^_^

There you go - Happy Easter

Sombra Makeup - the ears

There are several videos showing hot to put on smokey eyes and purple lips, but not that many showing how to create stretched ear lobes.
I made these collages of reference photos for the work in progress book I showed the judges.

To make fake ear lobes it really helped to get a cast of your own ears. This was my Christmas present a year ago, casted by my very talented sister.

As for the earplugs I scuplted them in clay, molded in silicon and casted in resin. And I will use them as guides for my ear sculpting

The love scuplt was made with hard chavant clay and Monter clay for the dividing walls.

I ended up with a three part mold, which was very complex. Later I have learned another technique which makes it a little easier. (more on that when the tutorials on Princess Nuala are done).

All parts of my molds. I fill them with gelatin

The raw casts, needs to be cleaned up. To get rid of seam lined you can heat up the back of a spoon and smooth out the seam. This gently melts the gelatin

Test with the plugs.

I am hoping to make a full video tutorial on how to attach the wig and pun on the makeup and ears, but that will have to be next time I'm wearing it (as it takes so long to do it just for a test)

Cosplay Hacks: Wig stand

I have styled several wigs, but only on a Styrofoam head. So you can just imagine how a new world opened up for me when I finally made one. The problem with the Styrofoam head was that it never stayed in place, with a stand the head stays in place

Of course I could buy one, but nah. I made one instead, from a small piece of MDF and a broom shaft. (any piece of wood can work for the base :)

Also great for displaying helmets.
